I Am Off the Oral Contraceptive Pill, Why Am I Not Pregnant Yet?

It can be so damn confusing if you have come off the pill and are not falling pregnant straight away - you are no longer on contraceptives so why isn’t it happening?

Most women who take the oral contraceptive pill (OCP) started in their teenage years, which means by the time you are wanting to conceive it has been around 5-20 years on a synthetic hormone that stops your body from ovulating.

That’s a long time that your body has been trained to AVOID a pregnancy!

That’s a long time that your body has had a suppressed menstrual cycle!

That’s a long time that your body has masked any period symptoms such as period pain, irregular periods and heavy periods!

So your body is trying to get rid of all these synthetic hormones, while its trying to restart a natural hormone cycle and regulate a period and restart ovulation and re-establishing your cervical mucous patterns - IT IS A LOT!

It is a process for your body to reset after coming off the pill! It is normal for your body to take time before being able to fall pregnant. Don’t beat yourself up if you haven’t fallen pregnant yet! Some people needs more time than others
